Largest City in Kyushu

The Largest City in Kyushu

Fukuoka City has the largest population in the Kyushu region, with approximately 1.66 million*1 residents. In 2024, it ranked fourth in Japan for net migration, and according to the 2023 regional future population projection index, it was third among ordinance-designated cities*2. The city also has the highest percentage of young people aged 15-29 among Japan's 21 major cities*3. While a nationwide population decline is projected in Japan, Fukuoka is a rare and promising city expected to see continued population growth. With its high and consistent population mobility, Fukuoka City is a place where new demands are constantly emerging, making it a reliable market for stable rental demand.

Specializing in Urban Industries

Specializing in Urban Industries

Fukuoka City boasts the fifth-largest economy among all cities in Japan and is the largest among its regional counterparts*4. Since the 1960s, Fukuoka has focused on developing its tertiary industries, establishing itself as the economic, information, and cultural hub of Kyushu with a specialization in urban industries. The city is also a leading center for startups, with its startup creation rate ranking first in Japan for six consecutive years*5. Following its designation as a National Strategic Special Zone in 2014, Fukuoka launched major urban redevelopment projects like the "TENJIN BIG BANG" and "HAKATA CONNECTED" These projects are expected to increase the number of employees by an estimated 1.6 to 2.4 times*6, which will likely lead to a continued expansion of housing demand.

Concentration of Transportation Infrastructure

Concentration of Transportation Infrastructure

Fukuoka City has the shortest access time from its airport to the city center, ranking first among 48 cities worldwide with over one million annual passengers*7. The airport's passenger traffic exceeded 24 million in 2023*8, giving the city a global character as a destination for visitors from all over the world, particularly from within Asia. The city's two major centers, Tenjin and Hakata, are just a 5-minute subway ride apart, and the 2023 extension of the Nanakuma subway line to Hakata further enhanced its transportation convenience. In addition to the subway and JR lines, the city's road network, including the Fukuoka Expressway, is well-developed, and its bus system is highly advanced. Furthermore, with the Tenjin city center and Hakata Port located within a 2-kilometer radius, the transportation infrastructure is highly concentrated in the city's core. This urban structure is another of Fukuoka's Allure, as it facilitates business activities and travel, and revitalizes the local economy.
